THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will convene a meeting with the selffinancing medical college managements on Tuesday and with selffinancing engineering college managements on Wednesday to solve the crisis in the professional education sector. This was disclosed by the Chief Minister while speaking to reporters after the allparty meeting held here on Monday. Oommen Chandy said that invitation had been extended to colleges under the InterChurch Council also to attend the meetings.
Members of the Cabinet subcommittee on the issue would also attend the meetings. Following the demands from the Opposition leaders, the Chief Minister assured the meeting to look into the allegations of police brutalities against students' leaders during the agitations on the selffinancing college issue.Chandy said all the leaders who attended the allparty meeting were of the view that the social justice should be ensured in the selffinancing professional college sector.

"The government is committed to ensure 50:50 ratio for government quota and management quota in selffinancing professional colleges. The fee should be affordable for students belonging to the economically backward families also," he said. He said that the government was going to the talks with an open mind. The immediate agenda was for solving the issue for next year. The longterm solutions such as going in for a state legislation or a Central legislation would be decided later.
