CM seeks report on Tobacco farmers

HYDERABAD: After hearing the plight of the tobacco farmers, chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Wednesday directed principal secretary to agricultural marketing and cooperation K Ratna Kishore and Tobacco board chairman Kamalavardhan Rao to submit a report by Thursday suggesting measures to solve the problems faced by the state’s tobacco farmers.A delegation comprising municipal administration minister M Maheedhar Reddy, member of Parliament Magunta Srinivas Reddy and members of tobacco company representatives met the chief minister at his camp office here with a request to take steps to redress problems faced by tobacco farmers. In response, Kiran Reddy assured to take steps immediately after getting the report on Thursday. He also assured he would discuss the issue of tobacco purchase with national and international companies, societies and the officials concerned.
