HYDERABAD: There was high drama at the office of the Congress Legislature Party on the Assembly premises on Thursday when party MLA and former minister P Shankar Rao tried to address the media. As expected, the CLP staff locked the doors of the press conference room to prevent him from using the premises to sling mud at the chief minister as he had been doing of late.An angry Rao entered into heated arguments with the staff and, being unable to persudate them, squatted on the steps leading to the CLP room and addressed the media from there. The CLP has recently discussed minister DL Ravindra Reddy and P Shankar Rao criticising the government and the chief minister frequently from its office and directed all its members to obtain prior permission from the CLP secretary to address the media. The members have been warned against speaking on state’s bifurcation issue or criticising the chief minister.Disregarding the warning, Shankar Rao, as usual, came down heavily on Kiran Kumar Reddy.“A new episode in state politics will unfold. Just wait for 33 days,” Shankar Rao said, indirectly hinting at a change of guard in the state. “The chief minister was not elected by the party MLAs but nominated by the high command. Now, he has lost the confidence of the high command. That is why I am speaking like this,” he said, adding, “he Sani Dosha for the state would end with the declaration of the byelection results.’’He alleged that the ministers who were in-charges of Assembly constituencies going to polls were not doing their assigned work properly. “The high command should take action against them if the results go against the Congress,” he demanded and challenged them to quit public life if they failed to ensure Congress victory in the byelections.Asked how he was feeling on denial of permission to address the media in CLP’s media room, Shankar Rao said he was not thrown out of the CLP but people would throw all the minister out of politics. On YSRP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, he advised him to float a charitable trust in the name of his garnadfather YS Raja Reddy and father YS Rajasekhara Reddy to do service to orphans and destitutes with the ill-gotten wealth. If Jagan distributed his money through charitable trust, he would have a bright future in politics, said Shankar Rao, whose petition to the High Court against Jagan, caused political convulsions.
