CHIKBALLAPUR: The death toll of the attack by villagers of Yerrakota and Barla Halli of Chinthamani taluk, Chikballapur, on suspected thieves increased to ten, with another person succumbing to injuries at R L Jalappa hospital on Tuesday.
The police team headed by Chikballapur SP Dr D T Pawar identified the accused with the help of Andhra Pradesh police.According to sources, police personnel have obtained the mobile number from a cellphone of one of the victims and contacted Obala Datha Cheruvu (ODC) village. Later, the police identified the names of the persons.

The persons who have been identified are: Ramanji, 35, Chinna, 25, Ramesh, 35, all residents of Mahamadhabad village; Pedda Reddy, 38, a resident of Kathiri village; Bhaskar, 36, a resident of Hindupur; Hari, 28, a resident of Mittapalli; Narasimha Reddy, 35, a resident of Indulolapalli; and Sudhakar Reddy, 40, a resident of Kanimi village. The deceased has been identified as Anjaneya Reddy.

Police personnel from Amadaguru have reached Chikballapur on Wednesday. Speaking to Express, an officer said Ramesh, who was killed in the incident, was the gang leader and was involved in various offences in several parts of Karnataka, AP and Tamil Nadu. He is survived by his four wives, who reached Chinthamani Government General hospital in a vehicle on Wednesday.
