Keeping in view the delayed monsoon, the Chhattisgarh government has asked the officials to prepare a contingency plan to deal with any exigency.
The agriculture department has been asked to continuously help the farmers with agriculture-related suggestions though mobile SMS.
Looking at the predictions of delayed monsoon, the state government is gearing up with plans to deal with possible consequences, an official said. Chief Minister Raman Singh has directed the Agriculture and Revenue and Disaster Management Departments to stay prepared with a contingency plan so as to extend help to farmers in any exigency, the official said.
In view of the less than average rainfall so far during this season, farmers have been asked to sow the paddy in row. The help of Akashawani and Doordarshan can also be taken to spread farmer-friendly messages, the official said quoting CM. The agriculture department is providing farming related information to 4.22 lakh farmers through SMS.
As per the information, except Koriya, Surajpur, Bilaspur, Mungeli and Kabirdham districts, other regions recorded less rainfall in the current season.
