COIMBATORE: The Kovai Medical Center & Hospital (KMCH) on Sunday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Chennai-based Global Health City Hospital (GHCH). Under the MoU, the Global Health City Hospital has partnered with KMCH to provide services in the area of Hepatobiliary and Liver Transplant at the KMCH.Addressing mediapersons on the occasion of signing the MoU, Dr Nalla G Palaniswami, Chairman, KMCH, said, “The main aim of the hospital is to provide quality health care in Hepatobiliary and liver transplant facilities at affordable rates for the common man. Through this association with Global Healthcity, we will not only provide quality and essential healthcare, but also an opportunity for Coimbatoreans to consult surgeons and physicians who have been renowned worldwide.”Pointing at the alarming mortality rate due to liver disease, Prof Mohamed Rela, HoD, HPB and Liver Transplantation, Global Healthcity, said: “The number of deaths related to Hepatobiliary and liver disorders has increased by 25 per cent. This is now at a record high and has been attributed to heavy drinking, obesity and hepatitis. Urgent measures have to be taken to arrest this alarming trend.”Dr K Ravindranath, CMD, Global Hospital Group, said: “Seeking the best healthcare facilities for the common man, we have been looking for a wider geographic.
