It was a field day for the 35 colleges in and around the city that participated in Chaitanya 2012, the annual cultural fest hosted by Sri Kanyaka Parameshwari Arts and Science College for Women recently.
Colleges like Ethiraj College, Queen Mary’s College, M O P Vaishnav College For Women, Loyola College and SS Jain College among others participated in the fest, amid a huge crowd of students who had gathered to suppport and cheer their respective teams.
Inaugurated by singer Velmurugan, Chaitanya 2012’s day one involved art and literary events.
Events like poetry, elocution in Tamil, English, Telugu, drama, debates, nail painting etc saw an enthusiastic crowd line-up to perform.
Day two of the two-day fest had the much-anticipated cultural events like dance and music.
Solo singing, group dancing, western music, carnatic music garnered the majority of the cheering, with a measure of whistles from the audience.
Events like vegetable carving and flower arrangements saw enthusiastic participation.
Participants from the television show Maanada Mayilaada judged the cultural shows.
