THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The uncertainty over the arrival of Ajiaz Gul, a jury member of the 16th IFFK, continued on Tuesday as the Union Home Ministry is yet to clear his visa. With the festival all set to close on Friday, chances are remote for Gul, the Pakistani film critic, arriving here for the festival.“We are still trying to get the papers cleared. But it is a procedural delay and the IFFk authorities cannot do anything,” said Bina Paul Venugopal, the artistic director of the IFFK.She said that there was an array of procedures related to the clearance from the Home Ministry. “We have experienced the same difficulties with some other visas too. It is the government procedure and we have to abide by it,” she said.Bina said that she did not think that the government had not denied the visa purposefully. “It is a normal procedure. The name of Gul was suggested by International Critics Association. But the strict visa regulations have to be cleared by the Centre first. The final say has to be taken by the Home Ministry,” she said.
