Las Vegas: Motorola Mobility unveiled a tablet computer and smartphone for Verizon Wireless's high-speed network and another two advanced phones, all based on Google Inc's Android software.
The company unveiled its new products to a packed room at the Consumer Electronics Show, in the company's biggest technology launch in the last several years.
However, the phone maker may have disappointed some attendees when Chief Executive Sanjay Jha said the Xoom tablet would not be ready for hands-on demonstrations at the show.
He also noted that the first version of the device, which launches in the first quarter, would support only Verizon's older, third-generation wireless network. It will be upgradeable to its fourth-generation service in the second quarter.
Verizon Wireless is a unit of Verizon and Vodafone.
