CUTTACK: Police on Sunday cracked the bombing case at CDA Markat Nagar on the night of August 17 by nabbing four miscreants. A country pistol and a motorcycle have been seized from them. The bombing was a fallout of previous rivalry between two groups and also apparently has connection with the students politics. Basing on the complaint of one Lallan Gupta, an alleged target, police raided different parts of the city and arrested Chandan Prasad alias Vicky of Mangalabag Bania Sahi, Md Sayeed of Pension Lane, Sk Abdullah and Sk Qadir of Bepari Sahi. The four have been forwarded to court. According to reports, Gupta and his group were reportedly sitting near a temple at Sector 8 on the night of August 17, when the miscreants hurled bombs at them. While fleeing the spot after the bombing, they had left behind a motorcycle. Gupta and others had escaped the attack. Police said the two groups had been involved in a face-off at Buxi Bazaar earlier on August 4. The attack was a retaliation to the incident. There could also be connection to students politics as elections in different colleges are drawing near. Chandan and Sayeed have several criminal cases pending against them while Gupta too has cases against him, Markat Nagar police said.
