CBSE scholarships for girl students
CBSE invites applications from interested candidates for its merit scholarship schemes for girl students in schools.

New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Thursday invited applications from candidates for three scholarships.

Girl students, who are the only child of their parents, will be selected for the scholarships on the basis of examinations conducted by the Board this year.

The first scheme is meant for Class 12 students, and for it the candidates should have 60 per cent or more marks in Class 10 examinations conducted by the CBSE this year.

Candidates should presently be enrolled in CBSE-affiliated schools where the tuition fee is not more than Rs 1,000 per month during the years 2005-06.

The Rs-500 scholarship will be for two years, subject to renewal on an annual basis.

The second scholarship, which offers Rs 1,000 every month for four years, is meant for those pursuing professional courses in medicine/engineering in any varsity or institution controlled or aided by the Central Government.

The scheme is subject to renewal on a year-to-year basis. The eligibility criterion for this scheme is a rank in the merit list of AIPMT/AIEEE 2006 held by the Board.

In the last three-year scheme, meant to cover UG studies, aspirants need to score 60 per cent or more marks in Class 12, 2006 examinations held by the CBSE.

The last scholarship is for students pursuing UG courses (non-medical/ non-engineering) in any university controlled or aided by the Central/state government.

Interested candidates can send their duly filled forms to Secretary CBSE, Shiksha Kendra, 2, Community Centre, Preet Vihar, Delhi-92 latest by July 15. For further details, log on to website www.cbse.nic.in.
