Caught on camera: Man thrashes lady doctor allegedly after his wife suffers a miscarriage

Haridwar: A man on Sunday allegedly thrashed a lady doctor after the death of his unborn child in Haridwar. The incident was caught on a CCTV camera.

According to the police, the assailant held the doctor responsible for the death of his child. However, a case has been registered against the assailant and he has been arrested.

The assailant's wife was undergoing treatment at a local nursing home. The doctor refused the allegations against her and said that the child died in the womb before the couple approached her.

Demanding security for doctors, she also said that doctors should be protected at all times. "There should be an action against it that there is no security for us (doctors). Should we carry a gun while treating the patients in OPD," she said.

Meanwhile, Haridwar SSP Sweety Aggrawal said, “Assailant’s wife was undergoing treatment in the hospital. She also consulted another doctor who confirmed that the baby is dead. When the ultrasound report was shown to the victim doctor, she also confirmed that the baby is dead. At that time the accused thrashed the lady doctor. Accused has been arrested."

The Indian Medical Association has condemned the incident and is planning to protest on Monday.
