CHENNAI: A 10-year-old boy, who was on his way to school, was killed when a load of sand fell over him from a capsizing lorry at Selaiyur on Tuesday. S Roopan, a class IV student and resident of Jagjivan Ram Street in Paduvancheri, was going to school along with Sabari, studying in class 2, sources said. When they neared Kaspapuram bus stand, a sand-laden lorry from Mambakkam turned around the bend on the road close to them. Due to the heavy load, the lorry tilted and the huge mounds of sand fell over Roopan, engulfing him. Sabari managed to escape. By the time help arrived, Roopan suffocated to death. Lorry driver Rajan and cleaner Vaiyapuri sustained injuries and were admitted to hospital. The Selaiyur police are investigating.Two Held in Missing Fishermen CaseTwo persons were arrested on Tuesday in connection with a 2006 case in which two fishermen were reported missing at Tiruvotriyur. Chellathurai of K V Kuppam was reported missing on September 12, 2006, while Velu disappeared 13 days later. Both were AIADMK functionaries and they were reportedly abducted by DMK functionaries after a confrontation involving the tsunami funds. The family of the missing persons lodged a complaint with the CoP on August 10, stating that they suspected the involvement of a former DMK minister and his family members.On Tuesday, two fishermen - M Dison (19) and G Sundararaj (21) - were arrested for their suspected involvement in the mysterious disappearance of the two AIADMK functionaries. As they reportedly pointed fingers at the former DMK minister and his brother, the police could question them, sources said. The cops have also launched a search for the other suspects  - Shankar, Chokkalingam, Dilli, Logu, Vaidyalingam and Kumar - in the case.
