BANGALORE: The state Cabinet which met here on Thursday has approved the upward wage revision for employees of the KPTCL and other state electricity supply companies (ESCOMs).The hike is in line with the earlier agreement signed with the unions of the power companies which was pending for approval, said Minister for Higher Education Dr V S Acharya.He added that the decision, which would be effective from April 1, 2010, would result in an burden of over Rs 300 crore.KEY CABINET DECISIONS ■ Approval granted to start 11 nursing colleges and 19 paramedical colleges across the state to be started from private institutions.Nursing colleges will also start PG courses in nursing and specialised nursing care in neurology, cardiology, urology ■ Proposal to extend one year agreement with Hyderabadbased Apollo Hospitals, which has been running the stateowned Rajiv Gandhi Super- Speciality hospital in Raichur, extended.The 10 year agreement to run the 300-bed hospital which had expired in July, extended till May 31, 2012 ■ Cost of construction of Suvarna Soudha in Belgaum revised to `391 crore from `340 crore ■ Upgradation of 25 km of SH no 132 between Bellary and Andhra Pradesh border to be executed by Karnataka Road Development Corporation Limited.Cost `80 crore ■ `32 crore project to scan and copy all land documents and constitution of a Karnataka Viability Gap Fund (`10 crore) to be constituted ■ Grant of land concession of over 4,000 acres for eight cement factories, one sugar factory and six educational institutions to be located at Chincholi and Sedam taluks in Gulbarga district.The concessions include a waiver from provisions of the Karnataka Land Revenue Act which bars usage of agricultural land for other purposes.■ Decision to benefit The Chettinad Cements, Shree Cements, Dalmia Cements and India Cements, which had signed MoUs with the govt
