Tiwari, who sang the popular number 'Sun raha hai na tu' from the Hindi film 'Aashiqui 2', was arrested in May 2014.

The Bombay High Court will be hearing the petition of Ankit Tiwari seeking quashing of rape case against him.

Tiwari, who sang the popular number `Sun Raha Hai Na' in the Hindi film 'Aashiqui 2', was arrested in May last year by Versova police here after a woman filed a complaint of rape against him.

According to the complainant, he allegedly raped her many times between October 2012 and December 2013 after promising to marry her. He later broke his promise, she says.

Police had also arrested Ankur Tiwari, Ankit's elder brother, for allegedly threatening the victim. Both the brothers are now out on bail.

There was controversy recently after the play back singer performed at a Mumbai Police organised event.
