New Delhi: Even as the Uttar Pradesh government faces rough political winds, the BJP on Friday said it would announce the list of candidates for the forthcoming Assembly elections in the first week of March.
While stating that the list was almost ready, state BJP chief Kesri Nath Tripathi added that the party would recommend one name for most of the seats, though two or more names could be sent for some constituencies.
"Our list for 403 seats is almost ready and will be sent to the party high command in a day or two. The full list will be announced after Holi," PTI quoted Tripathi as saying.
The state BJP chief said although the party is preparing to put up candidates in all 403 seats, some may be left for NDA alliance partners. "But any decision will be taken by the central leadership," PTI quoted him as saying.
He pointed out that the party's list would have an adequate representation of men and women. The BJP has already begun preparations, like setting up booth-level committees, for the Assembly polls.
