BJP Government indifferent to drought: KPCC
Only over the last four days, the CM and his Cabinet colleagues have been touring the villages..

KOLAR: The government is not serious about solving the problems of people in drought-hit areas, said KPCC president G Parameshwar. Parameshwar told reporters during his visit to drought-hit taluks in Kolar on Tuesday that three months ago, the state government had released a list of severely drought-hit taluks. But only over the last four days the Chief Minister and other ministers had been touring villages, which was unfortunate. Merely sitting in an air conditioned room and contacting the Deputy Commissioners and other officials through video conferencing would not help, he added.“The CM repeatedly says that the state government has released `364 crore for drought-hit districts but the situation has not improved. Farmers are suffering without water, power and crop loss. The CM also forgot to mention that the amount came from the Centre,” he said. Not Consulted Before Writing LetterG Parameshwar said the state government wrote to the Centre to release Rs 2,200 crore for drought relief but the state government did not think it fit to consult the Opposition (Congress). He also said the ruling BJP government had not taken any steps to take a delegation to Delhi to explain the situation and get sufficient funds released. The Centre has released Rs 168 crore under Natural Calamities Fund to the state government to take up relief works in drought-hit areas, he clarified.
