New Delhi: Accusing the BJP of attempting to spread communal tension, Railway Minister Lalu Prasad on Tuesday alleged the party was trying to divide society by creating animosity among people.
“Contrary to the belief that the BJP will effect development, it is trying to divide society by raking up communal sentiments through Hindu sammelans," PTI quoted Lalu as saying.
Describing the BJP as "Bharat Jalao Party,” Lalu said the party had experimented with spreading communal tension in Gujarat.
"Peace will prevail if the BJP is not allowed to gain power," he claimed, and asked people to vote for Congress candidate Sahab Singh during the March 8 bypolls in Madhya Pradesh.
The RJD chief lauded the achievements of the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre.
Regarding a demand for improved rail connectivity for Udaipura, Madhya Pradesh, Lalu said, "Elect the Congress candidate. It is Lalu's job to start new trains for the area after bypolls."
