New Delhi: For those of you following Amitabh Bachchan on twitter, he finally speaks about why all his tweets begin with a number - it's the number of days that he has been on twitter. Bachchan marked his 786th day on twitter with tweets on this lucky number charm that kept reoccurring throughout his career. In his first blockbuster film Deewar (1975), Bachchan wore a coolie badge or the Billa No.786 that literally saved his life!
As he tweets..."786 badge saved my life in Deewar... in Coolie in real life!!!" He believes that the number is auspicious for him and during a shoot for Coolie, he was saved from a serious injury because he was wearing the No.786.
It seems that the number took Bachchan back to the sets of the films, with a vivid memory of all-night-long shoots and the excitement of the climax scenes. In fact, he tweets, "#T786 after the release of Deewar, number plates of cars and necklaces and pendants bearing #T786 number became most prominent !!” and that "#T786 trending is infectious ... soo many incidents connected with it .."
Other than the fact that the number 786 is associated with Islam, as a substitution for the phrase 'bismillah ir-rahman ir-rahim' (in the name of Allah, the compassionate, the merciful), one would be surprised to find its usage in many Bollywood films, he tweeted.
For example Chiranjeevi, the famous Telugu megastar sported this number in his film Kaidhi Number 786, while Shah Rukh Khan's character Veer Pratap Singh in Veer Zara also bore the prisoner number 786. Want more? The registration number of Ajay Devgn's car in the movie Once Upon a Time In Mumbaai was MRH 786 too. It's safe to say that the phrase 'Lucky 7' could easily be replaced by 'Lucky 786' as far as Bollywood is concerned.
