The 71-year-old leader has served two terms as Italy's prime minister.
New Delhi: Italy's conservative former Prime Minsiter, Silvio Berlusconi, has won the Italian parliamentary elections.
His Centre-Left rival Walter Veltroni conceded defeat on Monday after early results from a two-day election projected a big majority for Berlusconi in both houses of the Italian parliament.
The 71-year-old leader has served two terms as Italy's prime minister and has now won a third term with a strong mandate to deal with Italy's economic and social problems.
The premier had sworn to cut taxes, ensure liberalization of the country’s troubled economy and coming down heavily on crime. His critics say they have heard it all before during his earlier terms.
