ICT-Enabled Citizen Help Desk, designed to provide a trouble-free interface for the public with the police force and Internal Administrative Processing System (iAPS), which facilitates computerisation of administrative work of the Police Department were inaugurated by Home Department Principal Secretary Sajan Peter at the Police Headquarters here on Thursday.
The ICT-Enabled Citizen Help Desk is designed to assist public who approach the police for any service.
The public can avail of single-window access to police service at all the police stations. The hallmark of the software is that the petitions can be registered at any stations and, if needed, can be transferred to the desired station on real time basis.
In the next phase of the project, 42 touch-screen kiosks would be installed in the state by which the petitioner can check the status of their
petition. The iAPS is aimed at computerising administrative work of all wings of the Police Department through an integrated web portal.
By implementing the project, movement and management of files and record keeping can be computerised. The software was developed by the State IT Mission and would be implemented by the IT Mission and KELTRON.
Speaking on the occasion, DGP Jacob Punnoose said that computerisation alone could ensure hassle-free administration.
The introduction of the software will bring about comprehensive change in the working of the Police Department.
Sajan Peter, in his inaugural speech, said that transparency is the mainstay of effective administration and computerisation will help build credibility of the Department before the public.
