Indonesia: Malaysian bomb expert Azahari Husin, one of Asia's most wanted men, is suspected to have been killed in Indonesia, according to Indonesian media reports.
The media said he died after police exchanged fire with suspected Islamic militants in East Java.
It is currently unclear whether he was killed by police or if he committed suicide.
Azahari and his Malaysian compatriot Noordin Mohammad top are believed to have masterminded the 2002 Bali bombings as well as other attacks.
They are also thought to be key members of the militant group Jemaah Islamiah.
The incident happened when police tried to raid a house in Batu, East Java.
A group of men were in the house and they are reported to have put up stiff resistance, throwing grenades at the police outside.
Gorries Mere, a senior Indonesian security official, told the Associated Press that one of the dead was thought to be Azahari.
A journalist for ANTV television network said Azahari blew himself up after being cornered by police.
"He blew himself up together with the house," the reporter, Karni Ilyas, said.
"The body was in pieces but his face could still be recognised by two members of the anti-terrorist unit from Jakarta, " he added.
The whereabouts of Azahari's alleged accomplice, Noordin Mohammad Top, are still unknown.
