HYDERABAD: This budget session, the state Assembly will wear a brand new look. The Assembly has undergone a renovation for the first time in 27 years after the new building was inaugurated by then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in 1985.The renovation was undertaken at the cost of Rs 3.13 crore, said speaker Nadendla Manohar who hoped that the new facilities would ensure the smooth conduct of the budget session.In the last session many of the members in the House had faced audio problems due to the outdated mike system in place. A new hitech audio system has been put in place now with the government spending a big part of the Rs 3.13 crore to buy a new audio system from Bosch company.The Assembly will also ensure that the budget session, which is scheduled to start on Monday, will be paperless. The speaker has directed members to use laptops and receive all reports from the Assembly official website. They would also provide touchscreen facility in the Assembly very soon, the speaker said.Manohar on Saturday met governor ESL Narasimhan to discuss the budget session. The speaker also inspected the renovation in the the Assembly premises.
