BANGALORE: The Department of Sainik Welfare and Resettlement will celebrate Armed Forces Flag Day on December 7 at Raj Bhavan at 11 am. The programme will be inaugurated by Governor H R Bhardwaj and Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda. Addressing presspersons here, Pratap Reddy,Inspector General of Police and Additional Director of Fire and Emergency Services, said, “We will be distributing financial benefits to war bereaved families and to gallantry award winners on the occasion.” He said that the scholarship amount for wards of ex-servicemen has been doubled from Rs 80 lakh to Rs 1.60 crore. “The ex-servicemen who are made to retire at a young age need employment assistance. They have shown their valour and patriotism in guarding our frontiers and our country. Every section of society should be grateful to them for their countribution,” Pratap Reddy further added.
