HYDERABAD: Twentysix of the 29 MLAs, who resigned in support of YSR Congress chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, called on Assembly speaker N Manohar in his chamber here on Monday and urged him to accept the resignations they submitted on August 23.
Three MLAs _ K Rambhupal Reddy, K Ramachandra Reddy and Gurunath Reddy _ did not meet the speaker due to to personal reasons. They will meet him on Tuesday to press for the acceptance of their resignations. All of them resigned protesting against the then chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy's name figuring in the FIR filed by the CBI in a case relating to Jagan's assets.
The 26 MLAs included Jayasudha, Konda Surekha and Satyavati who had resigned earlier for a different cause _ Telangana. With the speaker telling them now that the resignations of all 101 Telangana legislators who had resigned for the statehood cause were rejected, the trio decided to submit their resignations afresh on September 13. These three did not submit their resignations along with the 26 proJagan group on the ground that their resignations, submitted along with allparty Telangana MLAs in the past, were pending with the speaker. The MLAs told reporters later that the speaker had told them that he would examine all the resignations according to the rules and regulations of the Assembly. The speaker was in mood to meet each legislator separately before taking a decision, they said. YSRC leader and former minister Pilli Subashchandra Bose said that all the 29 MLAs had submitted their resignations in the prescribed format and urged the speaker to accept their resignations.Balineni Srinivas Reddy said their resignations were not aimed at pulling down the government but only registering their protest against the mention of YSR's name in the FIR.
