Answer Script Evaluation goes digital

BANGALORE: This is a welcome change to state education system, as retotalling and revaluation of papers may just become a thing of the past. TracMarks services provided by MeritTrac, an on screen marking (OSM) service, the assures error-free tabulation, rapid valuation or revaluations, safety of answer scripts- date/paper retrieval can be done with great ease, quick compiling and collating evaluations of any exam. “This is an online revolution that provides hassles-free marking of answer scripts. The scripts can be marked even from the comfort of one’s home,” said Murlidhar S, CEO, MeritTrac. Process of evaluation Answer papers are scanned and the images are transmitted to servers and copies of the scripts are distributed electronically and are marked online by evaluators. The questions level marks and comments of the evaluator’s are captured and the final scores are then tabulated automatically.‘200 answer sheets in one day’ “Through the OSM an evaluator, the quality of valuation improves, it provides complete transparency and helps students to view their scripts online. Also, nearly 200 papers can be evaluated in one day,” Murlidhar said.Many Universities and Boards in the state have now come forward to adopt this new technology. Manipal University has taken this technology for pre-medical course. Speaking to TNIE, G K Prabhu, Registrar, Manipal University said, “We have adopted this technology for our pre-medical course and are exploring other courses where this evaluation technology could be used.” Prabhu further said that the evaluation service “is extremely helpful for objective type and multiple type of questions and this system will make the process of evaluation a less timing consuming work.”Murildhar said that a pilot was tested for the CBSE Board and the response were positive from the srudents. The board was now looking at implementing it for standard XII next year.
