Another milestone for TELK

TELK, the joint venture company of Government of Kerala and NTPC Limited, flagged off its first 270 Mega Volt Ampere (MVA), 400kV, Single Phase Generator Transformer.

A K Gupta, managing director, TELK flagged off the transformer which is slated to be commissioned for Thermal Power Tech Corporation India Limited’s ( TPCIL) 660MW Super Critical Thermal Power Station in KrishnaPatnam, Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday in Angamaly.

With this achievement, TELK joined hands with select manufacturers in the country who have successfully designed, engineered, manufactured and tested 270MVA, single phase, 400kV generator transformer for 660MW Super Critical Thermal Units commissioned in India.

The entire design, engineering, manufacturing and testing of this transformer was done thru in-house competence.  The transformer with a weight of 240 tonnes has to be transported in special hydraulic trailers in gas filled conditions so as to reduce its weight during transportation for safe delivery.  TELK is supplying this transformer to TPCIL through BGR Energy Systems Limited, Chennai who is the  Contractor for the Project.
