Rajahmundry: District authorities said the water level of Godavari river had reached 7.5 feet at Dowleswaram barrage in East Godavari district, but as of now it posed no threat to surrounding areas.
However, the administration is monitoring the situation.
The water level may rise further as the catchment areas are receiving good rainfall, officials said.
The 'danger level' at Dowleswaram is at 12.5 feet.
East Godavari district collector Neetu Prasad said, "We will be monitoring the situation. We will shift the people living in low-lying areas to the relief camps if the water level reaches danger mark one. At present there is no threat to East Godavari district."
Prasad however advised the fishermen not to venture into the sea as strong gales are likely.
