Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy will not attend the All India Congress Committee (AICC) meeting in New Delhi tomorrow because of the ongoing winter session of the state legislature.
In a letter to AICC general secretary Janardhan Dwivedi on Thursday night, the AP Chief Minister expressed his inability to attend the party event.
"A crucial debate is on in the AP state legislature on the draft AP Re-organisation Bill-2013. Opposition parties may raise serious objections if I am not present in the House. Hence I may be exempted from attending the AICC meet," the AP Chief Minister said.
Thanking the AICC for inviting him to the session, the AP Chief Minister wanted the Congress high command to "appreciate sensitivities".
The AICC invited Kiran for the meeting tomorrow as well as the extended meeting of the Central Working Committee (CWC) of the Congress on Thursday.
However, the AP CM skipped the CWC meet as well, since he is busy preparing his speech on the draft Bill in the AP legislature, sources in the Chief Minister's Office said.
It may be mentioned here that the AP Chief Minister has not been on good terms with the Congress high command ever since he openly opposed the CWC decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh.
