Imagine being alive and yet a death certificate gets issued in your name. How traumatising and horrifying the experience must be? A man in Andhra Pradesh encountered a similar incident and expressed his distress. He sought help from the administration and proved to them that he was indeed alive. Anjaney Shetty from Paimagham in Chittoor District of Andhra Pradesh encountered a strange situation where he was declared dead despite being alive. He sought help from the relevant department and appeared before them. He said, “Oh Mahaprabhu! I am still alive. I have come before you. Please solve my problem.” But, what exactly happened?
As per reports, Anjaney Shetty left his home after he became mentally unstable, in 2019. This was followed by an extensive search operation launched by his family members and relatives. In the year 2020, his family members refused to give up hope of finding him and continued their search. Their hopes were shattered when a body was recovered from Bengaluru and it resembled Anjaney Shetty. The family believed it to be him and performed his last rites as per their customs and traditions. They carried out all the necessary ceremonies as well and obtained a death certificate for him. After the issuance of his death certificate, his Aadhaar card was cancelled by the administrative department and his name was further removed from the ration card by the authorities.
Things took a U-turn for the following, when four years later, Anjaney Shetty returned to his native village. While his family rejoiced about his safe homecoming, his neighbours and other villagers were shocked. Anjaney Shetty approached the authorities at the Mandal offices to cancel the death certificate and instead reinstate his identification documents which will prove that he is still alive.
Anjaney Shetty registered a complaint to the Chittoor District Collector and after that, this strange incident came to light.
