The Maharaja’s College auditorium is all set to get an image makeover with Union Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi sanctioning a fund of Rs 1 crore from his MP Local Area Development Fund for its renovation.
The earmarked funds will be used to renovate the stage using the latest technology. It will be designed with modern sound and light system and equipped with comfortable seating arrangement as per the Minister’s plan, said District Collector Sheik Pareeth.
A draft is in the making and will soon be completed, the Collector said. Also, the height of the stage will be raised and seating will be layered to ensure proper visibility. As per the plan, the asbestos roof will be replaced with a better one.
Also, interior designers will be used to decorate the interiors of the auditorium which is in poor state owing to years of wear and tear in order to make the auditorium more audience-friendly.
Meanwhile, efforts will be made to furnish the auditorium so that it can have better featured sound quality as per the wishes of the Minister who is also an alumni of the college. A high-tech projector for screening of films is also planned.
The Collector also announced that the air-conditioning of the auditorium will be considered in the next phase of the renovation project.
