Aligarh curfew enters sixth day
Curfew continued for the sixth day in five areas of Aligarh after the town was hit by communal clashes.

Aligarh: Curfew continued for the sixth day on Friday in five areas of Aligarh.

The town was hit by communal clashes following the killing of a local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader.

Official sources said police had prepared computer-generated sketches of the two hired killers suspected of having shot BJP leader O P Gupta on the basis of descriptions provided by eyewitnesses.

"Our investigations are moving steadily and our objective is to have a water-tight case and to ensure we get hold of the real culprits," District Magistrate Anil Kumar Sagar said.

The sources said the authorities preferred not to relax curfew till Gupta's killers are nabbed.

The communal clashes triggered by the killing of Gupta left two men Azimullah and Balu Shamshad dead.

Azimullah's widow Uzma, one of the eyewitnesses has also helped police prepare the sketches.

Police on Thursday detained over half a dozen persons for questioning but no arrests have been reported so far.
