New Delhi: With just two days to go for the first CBSE board exam, helplines are buzzing with students calling in with last-minute doubts and queries.
But last minute studies also mean last minute doubts and many students are taking help from helplines.
Says Class X student, Apurva Chaturvedi, “Although I have made my last-minute preparations, I decided to call helplines.”
Delhi-based helpline Snehi is one of them. It is counseling students suffering from exam-related stress and say the frequency of calls has shot up by almost 100 per cent in the week leading up to the exams.
Says Snehi counselor, Abdul Mabood, “Every individual is unique and they have their own set problems. Even a small hurdle can lead to a lot of stress.”
The newly-introduced questions under High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) too seems to be making students sweat. Apart from HOTS, there is distinct pattern in the kind of queries that the helplines have been receiving at this time of the year.
“Most of the queries that we receive from government schools are English and Maths. While public school kids are mostly worried about social studies,” says Mabood.
With 30 teachers and principals on board, the CBSE's tele-counselling helplines also offer support.
