New Delhi: The government is considering various measures for increasing share of women in public employment, including relaxing age and experience limit.
It was stated by Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Suresh Pachouri while replying to a discussion on the Public Employment (Reservation for Women) Bill, 2005 introduced by a private Member in the Rajya Sabha.
"We are aware of the difficulties being faced by women in getting jobs and the problems after getting the job. All these aspects are being looked into," he said.
"The government will soon come out with some positive action," the Minister assured the House and requested BJP Mahila Morcha President, Maya Singh to withdraw the Bill, to which she agreed.
Speaking on the Bill, Singh had urged the Government to implement its assurance with all sincerity.
There are reservations for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and OBCs but not for women who do not need such protection any less, she said.
"This Bill reflects the pressing needs and aspirations of millions of women in this country, and it is hoped that the Government would act soon to ensure due share to women in public employment," Singh added.
The Minister said women formed 50 per cent of the country's population, so without their participation, no development can take place.
"Women's role should not be limited to just four walls of the house. They have to be an active player in all the developmental process, and the government is fully aware of this role," Pachouri said.
