Additional District Magistrate isuses R&R funds

KARIMNAGAR: An additional district magistrate cadre officer in Karimnagar district reportedly misused funds allocated for the Rehabilitation and Resettlement (R&R) package following which his cheque powers were cancelled.The officer in question, Chiranjiv Choudary, according to sources, used the R&R funds, which should be exclusively allocated for oustees of irrigation projects alone (as per the GO Ms No. 3), for modernising his camp office. The officer, it was learnt, had bought a laptop worth `76,900, a mobile phone worth `28,000 and an air-conditioner at a cost of `31,500 for his office with the R&R funds.Finding that the funds were misused, the officer’s power to operate the account relating to R&R package in Andhra Bank at St.John’s branch, (A/C. No. 104810011005804), was transferred to the district collector, a couple of days ago. On Thursday, Choudary’s power to operate three other bank accounts of the civil supplies department in SBH, Karimnagar branch, were also cancelled.
