Oversized bags out, animal hide in! That's the verdict for accessories this season.

We got Malini Agarwal, accessories designer of brand 'Malaga' to tip us off on more of the hottest add-ons this season that will give your ensemble that zing!

Pump it up!

It's winter, it's cold, so it's definitely time to flaunt those chic closed pumps or a pair of closed stilettoes.

Go for leather, satin or patent (again a carry over from last season) shoes. And there's nothing like a little bling to glam things up. Footwear embellished with Swarovski, emeralds, rubies and semi-precious stones or with understated embroidery work really well for a formal evening party.

Boots are made for walking

Another biggie this season are the ankle length boots. Get yourself a pair in animal hide. Try skin embossed leather, if you are all for animal rights. After all, skin is hot this season.

Get a wedge

If you live in a warmer city like Mumbai, you might want to steer clear of boots. But feel free to wear your peep toes and wedge heels. They are not going out of style just yet. And for your laid back Sunday brunch, just slip on a pair of ballerinas.

Bag it right

The hot colours to watch out for are red, shades of blue, black and the undisputed colour of the season, purple! And that goes for bags too. Dual tone bags are another sensation this season.

Classic's the way

Remember, the oversized floppy bag is out but that doesn't mean you can't carry all those everyday items around. Big structured bags with straight lines are very trendy. Depending on your profession or the occasion, you can carry a bag with a funky print or a skin embossed bag.

For a formal function, carry a classic but chic clutch embellished with semi-precious stones.

Suit your style

When it comes to belts, not everything suits everyone. Lucky for us, there's something trendy for everyone this season. You don't have to stick with either narrow or broad belts; wear whatever suits you so long as you carry it off the right way.

If you have a sexy slender waist, try wearing a belt at the empire line. It will accentuate your waist as well as emphasise a nicely cut dress.

For those of you on the slightly larger side, go with a broad low slung belt. This goes excellently with a loose caftan.

Accessorise...

A simple trouser suit with a neat, narrow black belt.

A day dress with an elasticated belt with a fancy embellished buckle.

A sari with a stunning jewelled belt in a contrasting colour.

What's your reaction?
