New Delhi: The Ghaziabad court hearing the Aarushi murder case on Saturday adjourned the hearing till February 29. Dr Rajesh and Nupur Talwar, the prime accused in the murder of their 14-year-old daughter's murder, did not attend the hearing. Their counsel, Mr Tamta, said that his clients feared a threat to their lives.
However, the CBI argued that they should have been present during the hearing as the apex court did not exempt them from Ghaziabad to Delhi.
The Talwars had on Friday moved the Supreme Court seeking transfer of their case from Ghaziabad to Delhi citing security reasons. Responding to it, The apex court asked the CBI to file its reply.
The Talwars are now likely to move a plea requesting the CBI judge to adjourn the trial till the time the Supreme Court decides on their application.
The Supreme Court had earlier granted bail to Rajesh Talwar till February 4 and asked him and his wife to stand trial once the bail period expires.
Aarushi was found dead with her throat slit at her Noida residence on May 16, 2008 and the body of the Talwars' domestic help, Hemraj, who too was murdered, was found on the terrace of their house the next day.
Both Rajesh and Nupur Talwar were named the prime accused in the murder of their 14-year-old daughter.
