HYDERABAD: Explaining the state government’s measures for rehabilitation of child labour, D Sreenivasulu, secretary, Labour Employment Training and Factories called upon all business establishments to extend their assistance to make Secunderabad as a child labour free zone.Speaking during a meeting with managements of business establishments on Thursday, D Sreenivasulu said they are planning to prepare a road map under the Publicity and Motivation (PPM) mode to declare Secunderabad as a child labour free zone.He said prime localities in Secunderabad such as MG road, RP road, SP Road and SD road would be declared as child labour-free and urged managements of business establishments to cooperate with labour department officials to implement the plan successfully.S Naresh Kumar, deputy commissioner of labour, Hyderabad-I said, “We have directed managements of business establishments to put hoarding at various places against employing child labourers, conduct awareness camps in association with NGOs and organise Kalajatha cultural programmes to create awareness among parents and traders.” Later, Sreenivasulu distributed appreciation and child labour-free certificates to six business establishments as they had followed the provisions of the Child Labour Act in hiring staff.FAPCCI general secretary Rajeswara Rao, traders and NGO representatives also participated in the meeting.
