343 get degrees at IIIT-H Convocation

HYDERABAD: The International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad conducted its tenth annual convocation on Saturday.Degrees were awarded to 343 students including BTech, BSc, MTech, MS, PhD, MSIT and PGDIT programmes.About 50 companies conducted campus recruitment this academic year and the institute has achieved 100 percent placements.Information technology is a field which equips engineers combine ideas from different domains and create something new, said Rajeeva Ratna Shah, former member of the Planning Commission, who delivered the convocation address.Describing various opportunities in the profession, he said IT allied domains such as artificial intelligence, bio-informatics, nanoinformatics, data mining have thrown open a host of professional opportunities.He called upon students to explore various domains in which IT can be used to resolve social issues.“A deep understanding of the technology along with an inclination to give back to society will strenghten the nation,” Shah said encouraging students to be socially responsible.IIIT-H has been ranked among top 10 institutes for technology in India, director Rajeev Sangal said.
