The rise in kidnap cases is frightening people in Warangal town. Three children were abducted in the last three months.

People are criticising police for not keeping strict vigil despite knowing that kidnappers are on the prowl in the city. Police are being faulted for not gaining any breakthrough in the cases mainly due to their negligence.

On July 14, four-year-old Bhargav (Vikki) was kidnapped at Madikonda when he went to a kirana shop to buy marbles for playing.

Vikki’s parents lodged a complaint with the police the same day. Cops asked them if they had any enemies.

Then they brought the suspects to the police station, thrashed them for a week and left them. However, they could not catch the actual culprits.

Basing on the details provided by the people in the colony, cops even released an imaginary sketch of the accused -- a woman. Finally, following orders from SP Shyam Sunder, an investigation team constituting two CIs and an SI under the supervision of a DSP was formed but there has been no progress in the case for the last 12 days.

In the first week of July, Nayeem Sultana, mother of an 18-month-old baby, lodged a complaint with the police stating that her infant was kidnapped on the premises of MGM Hospital.

On 31st May, Abhinav (3), belonging to Saptagiri Colony in Gopalpur was abducted.

He went to a shop near his house to buy a choclate, when an unidentified woman had reportedly taken him away saying that she would buy him mangoes.

There are no clues about Abhinav’s whereabouts yet. People feel that cops are unable to solve the cases due to slow investigation.

Soon after receiving complaint, it is suggested that police should close all roads, pass on information to all stations and begin checking vehicles.
