2G: CBI says probe against Anil Ambani still on
The CBI clarified this in the context of reports that Anil Ambani had been given a clean chit in the case.

New Delhi: The CBI said on Sunday that it was still probing the role of Relainace ADAG Chairman Anil Ambani as part of its investigation into the 2G scam and that he has not been given any clean chit yet.

This was clarified by a spokesperson for the investigating agency in the context of reports that Anil Ambani had been given a clean chit in the structuring of different companies and transfer of funds relating to Swan Telecom which had got Spectrum license.

The CBI said that there was no evidence against Anil Ambani in the scam so far.

"The investigation did not not reveal any evidence either oral or documentary to inculpate Sh. Anil Ambani in the structuring of different companies and transfer of funds," the agency said in its status report submitted to the Supreme Court on September 29.

The CBI was filing its response to a note submitted by petitioner Prashant Bhushan in which he had sought to create a "wrong impression" about the fairness and impartial nature of its investigations.

Among other things, Bhushan had alleged that it was inconceivable that three employees could have created a convoluted maze of companies to disguise Swan's real ownership and taken Rs1,000 crore of company money without the approval of the Chairman of the Board.

CBI sources drew attention to the submission made by its counsel before the Supreme Court on Friday in which he had stated that the role of Anil Ambani and other employees in relation to 9.9 per cent share in the Swan Telecom that was sold to Mauritius-based Delphi was being probed.
