Over 6,500 doctors are on strike, demanding pay parity with doctors in the Central Government hospitals.

New Delhi: Medical services remained affected in government hospitals in Rajasthan as the strike by doctors entered its third day on Friday. In a bid to end the strike, over 200 doctors have been arrested.

Efforts were on to break the deadlock.

Over 6,500 doctors are on strike, demanding pay parity with doctors in the Central Government hospitals. They decided to stop work after talks with the Ashok Gehlot government collapsed.

The patients seem to be bearing the brunt of the agitation. Two died in Jhunjhunu and Barmer and their families allege they weren't attended to. 20,000 contractual employees under the National Rural Health Mission began their strike.
