Steps

Using a PC or Mac

Open X (formerly Twitter).. If you're using a phone or tablet, you can open the X mobile app. On a computer, navigate to https://www.x.com and sign in with your account.

Go to the profile of the person you want to mute. You can do this by hovering your mouse pointer over a post by this person's name or you can also search for the user by name by typing it into the search bar.

Click the three dots More. This is at the bottom of the options that appear. A menu will drop down once you click “More.”

Click Mute @account. You will see the "Successfully muted" message after doing so. You will also see "You have muted tweets from this account" at the top of the user's profile each time you visit. Visit https://twitter.com/settings/muted_following to see a list of all of your muted accounts. If you decide to unmute a user, return to their profile and click Unmute right above their tweets.

Using Your Smartphone

Launch the X app. You can do this by tapping on Twitter’s icon on your home screen or apps drawer. If you don’t have the X app yet, you can get it from Google Play (for Android) or iTunes App Store (for iOS). Just search for the app in the app store, tap on the X icon in the search results, and then tap “Install” or “Download” to install the app to your device.

Log into your X account. Click on the box that says email and type in your email address. Then click on the box below it and type in your password. Once you are finished, click “Log in” to access your account.

Find the person you want to mute. Upon signing in, you will automatically load to your X news feed. Scroll through the feed until you see a post from the individual that you want to mute.

Open that person’s tweet. After you find the person you want to mute, click on his or her tweet to open it in a separate window.

Mute that person. Click on the 3 horizontal dots on the top-right side of the screen. This will cause a drop-down menu to appear. From the options in the drop-down menu, select “Mute @[X handle of the person].” You will get one final pop-up window asking if you are sure you want to mute this person. Tap “Yes” to totally mute that particular tweeter.
