It’s hard to forget the moment when musician Harry Styles made a surprise cameo during a mid-credit scene in Marvel’s 2021 film Eternals. Those who stan the Watermelon Sugar hitmaker were instantly sent into a state of frenzy and his return in an upcoming MCU film has been a hot topic of discussion ever since. Now, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has something interesting to tease about his highly-speculated comeback. It seems Harry Styles will feature in an MCU film but when the time is right. During a recent interaction with Entertainment Tonight, Kevin admitted he is excited about the musician’s return.
“He’s excited, we’re excited, we will see,” said the Marvel President without divulging too many details. But he did stealthily confirm Harry’s casting wasn’t just a random tag in their fantasy universe “You introduce a lot of new characters in a lot of movies and a lot of tags. Where do the tag folk reappear? That’s a good question,” he remarked.
Notably, the update comes months after Marvel executive Nate Moore already confirmed Harry Styles will once again be seen donning a cape in a Marvel film. In a previous interaction with Deadline, he said: “We didn’t cast Harry for a tag. There’s more stories to be told with that (Harry’s) character.”
How was Harry Styles introduced in Eternals?
Harry Styles appeared as Eros, the brother of the Endgame war villain Thanks in the mid-credit scene. His introduction comes from sidekick and assistant Pip the Troll, wherein he approaches the Eternals from the shadows to warn them about an impending danger. Harry’s cape-esque character is touted to be a complex figure, who potentially seems to be on the side of the Avengers. He shares the same father as Thanos but believes in the greater good of the universe.
While sharing details about his character with Deadline, Marvel executive Nate Moore added, “He has an interesting connection with Thanos; they’re half-brothers and share the same father. He’s a complicated character, but a really fun character.”
But Harry Styles isn’t the only musician whose Marvel appearance has been in the air. Months ago heavy speculation of Taylor Swift’s cameo as mutant Dazzler in Deadpool 3 gained massive traction online. Reacting to the rumours, Kevin Feige simply laughed neither denying nor confirming the development.
Marvel is currently gearing up for the release of Brie Larson starrer The Marvels on Friday, November 10. The final episode of Loki 2 will hit Disney+ Hotstar on Thursday, November 9.
