Academy Award-winning actress Julia Roberts is about to star in a new thriller film titled After the Hunt. It is being directed by Luca Guadagnino and produced by Amazon MGM. The film’s plot deals with a female university professor, played by Roberts, who is stuck in a tricky scenario in both her personal and professional life, after one of her students accuses a colleague of misconduct. As she deals with this tough situation, a dark aspect of her past life also threatens to resurface, adding to the complexity of her situation and the overall complexity of the upcoming film.

The screenplay for After the Hunt is penned by first-time writer Nora Garrett, who is also one of the executive producers of the movie. Garrett and Karen Lunder will work with Imagine Entertainment. Imagine Entertainment executives Brian Grazer and Allan Mandelbaum are producing the film, along with Guadagnino, for his company Frenesy, reports Variety.

Italian film director and producer Guadagnino is well known for his acclaimed work on Timothee Chalamet starter Call Me by Your Name. He is currently busy with several other projects too. Alongside After the Hunt, he is reportedly directing Separate Rooms which is an adaptation of Pier Vittorio Tondelli’s novel, with Josh O’Connor in discussions to lead the cast.

Guadagnino’s upcoming tennis love-triangle drama, Challengers, featuring Zendaya and Mike Faist, is also ready to hit theaters on April 26 this year. Additionally, his Mexico-based romantic drama, Queer, starring Daniel Craig, is expected to premiere at the Venice Film Festival later this year.

On the other hand, Julia Roberts most recently led the cast of Netflix’s post-apocalyptic thriller, Leave the World Behind. The actress, who is one of the most sought-after artists in Hollywood right now, bosts of a career spanning decades. She rose to fame in the 1990s with her iconic roles in romantic comedies like Pretty Woman, Notting Hill, and My Best Friend’s Wedding.

With Roberts as a lead, audiences can expect a compelling and nuanced performance that will keep them on the edge of their seats.
