From John Cena presenting the Best Costume nude to Robert Downey Jr. getting his first win, Oscars 2024 was a wild ride. The 96th Academy Awards ceremony took place on March 10 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles. The ceremony was available to watch in India on March 11. John Cena Goes Nude To Present Best Costume Award

Jimmy Kimmel, the host, introduced John Cena as the presenter of the Best Costume category and teased that he would appear nude on stage. When John Cena hesitated to walk out with no clothes, Jimmy Kimmel convinced him and eventually forced him out of the wings to present the award. John Cena covered his modesty with the envelope containing the name of the winner of Best Costume.

Oppenheimer Wins Big At The Oscars

Not only did Christopher Nolan win the award for Best Picture but Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. also won in the Best Actor and Best Actor in a Supporting Role categories. While Christopher won the Oscar for the first time, Robert Downey Jr. also finally got his first win after being nominated three times.

The Academy Pays Tribute To Late Nitin Desai

India’s Nitin Desai was honoured in the “In Memoriam” montage showcased at the 96th Academy Awards. The acclaimed art director was found dead in August last year at his ND Studio in Khalapur Raigad near Karjat. Nitin Desai allegedly died by suicide. He was most known for his work in films like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Lagaan, Devdas, Jodhaa Akbar and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.

Emma Stone Bags Her Second Academy Award

Emma Stone won the Oscar in the Best Actress category for her performance as Bella Baxter in Poor Things. This is her second win after previously winning for La La Land. Other nominees in the category were Annette Bening for Nyad, Lily Gladstone for Killers of the Flower Moon, Sandra Hüller for Anatomy of a Fall, and Carey Mulligan for Maestro.

RRR’s Action Sequence Gets A Shoutout

At this year’s Academy Awards, an action sequence featuring Ram Charan and Jr. NTR from SS Rajamouli’s internationally renowned film RRR was part of a montage that was showcased as a tribute to the contribution of stunt coordinators in cinema across the world.
