Madrid: Atletico Madrid head coach Diego Simeone talked about the dismissal of Rafael Benitez from Real Madrid saying that "whenever a colleague leaves is not good" and "it is a situation that hurts" while wishing him the best and describing him as a "great coach, a great history".

Real Madrid football club sacked Benitez due to bad performance, bringing in former star Zinedine Zidane of France.

"For any of the coaches who conduct a club that is a situation that hurts, it costs, and we have to accept because it is part of this game, so I always wish the best for any coach who takes the responsibility and coaches who unfortunately, because football is like that, have to leave," Efe quoted Simeone as saying on Tuesday.

"And in ours more so because it is a consequence of training, matches and continuity. Everyone has their way of working and dealing with situations," the Argentinian added.

"Benitez is a great coach, a great history and we wish him well."
