New Delhi: Manchester United seemed to have pipped the likes of Manchester City and Barcelona to sign in-demand winger Alexis Sanchez, according to reports in the British media.

Mirrorfootball reports that the Chilean player who raised a lot of eyebrows during the 2010 World Cup and was a vital part to take Udinese to CHampions League football prefers the red half of Manchester to the Eastlands.

Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson had wanted to sign the player last season too but the deal fell through midway. Reports now suggest that United might land the most wanted man in football for 27 million pounds.

The bidding war for the winger which started with the likes of Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United and Manchester City has now been narrowed down to the La liga winners and the Manchester clubs.
