The Indian Football Association is keen to revive the lost glory of the Super Soccer League after 10 years of its inception.

New Delhi: The Indian Football Association is keen to revive the lost glory of the Super Soccer League after 10 years of its inception, and as a first step have roped in top Brazilian club Sao Paulo to play in the tournament starting from January 27.

"The Sao Paulo visiting India is essentially a group of three tiers of Sao Paulo, involving two or three professional players, eight or nine from the amateur team and the rest from the junior pool of the club," IFA president Aditya Kashyap told reporters in Kolkata on Wednesday.

Kerala, Delhi and Jharkhand are due to host one match each of the Super Soccer League, while Bengal will play host to two matches, Kashyap said, adding that the revamped football tournament will be seeing the best team in Sao Paulo participate since its start.

The Brazilian giants' first assignment would be against India's most popular club, East Bengal at Siliguri on Day one of the tounament.

Mohammedan Sporting will then be running into the Brazilian club four days later. Mohun Bagan, Kerala XI and JCT will then test their luck against Sao Paulo on Fabruary 4, 7 and 11 respectively.

The Super Soccer League was last played in 1994.
