London: A goal in each half from Oscar and Diego Costa handed Chelsea a 2-0 win over Newcastle on Saturday, a result that moves Jose Mourinho's side two points clear atop the Premier League.

Newcastle began strongly and was denied the opening goal when Petr Cech made a superb low save from Remy Cabella in the 32nd minute before Moussa Sissoko hit the post on 36.

But Chelsea took the lead when Branislav Ivanovic swept a quick corner across to Oscar at the back post, who slotted past Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul in the 43rd.

Oscar turned provider in the 59th, cleverly flicking the ball into the path of Costa to slot right-footed past Krul for his 15th goal of the season.

In the other match, Leicester continued their resurgence with a 1-0 win at home to Aston Villa. Paul Konchesky put Leicester ahead on the stroke of halftime with a left-foot strike from the center of the penalty area, and United States goalkeeper Brad Guzan got his fingertips to a header from Leonardo Ulloa to prevent the hosts doubling the score after 53 minutes.

Nigel Pearson's side continued to push for a second and midfielder Marc Albrighton was stopped from scoring against his former club with a piercing drive by another great save from Guzan.

Leicester's Matty James and Villa's Ciaran Clark were both red-carded by referee Michael Oliver for clashing in the final moments of the game. The victory means Leicester is now unbeaten in four matches.
